THE INCARNATION OF CHRIST IN YOU

THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL IS NOT A LIFE IN GOD

As immature Believers we can think that we are Godly because we have joined some church that embraces an iconic symbol such as a commandment or the gifts of the Spirit. As we grow older we will come to see that one could ‘keep’ the commandments of God, yet not be a Godly person – because goodness is not a property of words but of persons, namely the trinity in us.

NOT ABOUT WORDS
In truth it is improbable that anyone could keep all or any of Moses commandments which was Jesus’ point that to even look at a women with lust was to commit adultery.

Sin and righteousness are not so much a matter of words as a state of being. To say that sin is only the transgression of the law is to ignore the reality that sin results from separation from God and that we are only holy when the Word is made our flesh and becomes our life.

ROUTINE NOT GODLINESS
As we mature we will realise that we are not one with God because we are part of a religious routine and that possibly we do not know God just because we are a long term church member. We certainly will not know God if we have been raised in legalism. Religion is very good at insulating us from God while presenting to the self the illusion of godliness.
Godliness is much more than ticking boxes. Real Godliness is God incarnated in us. Christ has become our flesh and has taken over our spirit and our soul. Here we are graced with His life so that even when we miss the mark, he is our targeting of the mark. He is our grace and our life. The good news is not just about Christ. The good news is that Christ is our life.
HE IS US
“
Jesus Christ Himself is the good news. It is not merely about what happened in the life and death of Jesus, but it is who Jesus is and was that constitutes the Gospel message. “Jesus not only announces the kingdom but is himself the good news” (Incarnation, 20). It is not merely a benefit from Jesus Christ we receive when accepting the good news, but primarily it is Jesus Himself who is the benefit of the Gospel. In union with Him, we share in all His benefits. We are justified, sanctified, healed, reconciled, and redeemed—but most of all we are included and participate in the Triune love of God.” (1)
Participating in the triune love of God is being in fellowship with God as trinity. This fellowship is more than propinquity. It is an interwoveness of being in which all of God transfuse all of us. As such we need to live in the incarnation and from it, which is not too difficult given that Jesus, Father and holy Spirit will be expressing themselves as us as well as walking our life with us. There is every reason for good cheer in our life journey.
